About
Desert Moon Shar Pei
We live in a small rural community in Arizona, about 35 miles outside of Kingman. We moved here from the Denver area about 12 years ago.
We fell in love with Shar Pei's in Colorado. Our first "Pei" was a beautiful little five point red female that adopted our family right away. She became our best friend and companion for many years, she was a constant source of joy and entertainment. We have given a home to a few mixed breeds along the way that we have loved equally as well, but "Pei's" are our first love when it comes to dog breeds.
We now are proudly owned by "pei's", they rule the roost around here but we love it. I don't want to be redundant, but because of the difference in personalities it is a constant source of amusement. Our Kaci Lee is somewhat aloof and very dignified, yet loves to meet new people and just seems to forget about acting dignified. Well I won't go into all that here, you will meet them on other pages.
We began breeding Chinese Shar Pei in 1996, since that time there have been many trials and tribulations. We feel we have been graced by God as most of our Shar Pei have been healthy through out their lives. Yes we have lost some along the way and as many of you have, we have experienced the pain of losing one of our four legged kids. Shar Pei have such a human quality about them, people who have "Pei" understand what I am saying. For those of you who have never had one before take my word for it, they are the most unique dog breed on the face of the earth.
Chinese Shar Pei are often referred to as the "Wrinkle dogs" or "Wrinkled puppies". As Shar Pei mature often they lose a lot of the wrinkles they had as an adolescent or baby. Some keep many of the wrinkles and we have seen instances where some actually have more wrinkles as adults. Shar Pei puppies have to be the cutest puppies in the world, I may be a little biased but just a little. There is nothing like looking at a puppy laying on it's side looking as if it were melting. When they shake their heads their faces distort and become almost unrecognizable and their lips make a loud slapping sound. There is nothing like a Shar Pei puppy, we have many photos of puppies in our nursery and past puppie section. We hope you enjoy looking at those photos as much as we enjoy taking them.
We have made many good friends through our puppies, special thanks go out to all of them. We have recieved hundreds of photos of our past "Pei Babies" through emails. We love having the opportunity to watch them grow into happy, healthy loving adults. Special thanks go out to David and Kelly who adopted our little "Mr. Wobbles" now Newman. He suffered spinal cord injury while being stuck in the birth canal for an hour and forty minutes. They have gave him love, nurturing and everything he needs to live a normal life. You can see Newman and Kelly on pg. 1 of the "Our Family section". I would like to also give special thanks to Mike and Patty who adopted two of our kids, Thank you for the many photos you constantly send.
I could go on and on with thanking all the special people who have come into our lives but you know who you are.
